Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise stiff. Cal Ripken Jr signs.

In general actors are much more fan friendly than athletes.  Maybe it's because actors only have to do a dozen events a year, where as athletes can play hundreds of games in a season.  Who knows.  But that was definitely not the case this week when I went to an event.

Tom Cruise arrived and we called him.  He gave a wave and then rushed in.  I crossed my fingers he might do it leaving, but he proceeded to sneak out of the back and run to his SUV avoiding all fans.

Then Johnny Depp arrived a few minutes later.  He gave a wave.

Then his personal security guard looked over and said, "He's coming back, I'll bring him over after".

But he didn't bring him over.  He did the exact opposite.  When they were leaving Johnny made a motion that he wanted to come over and his security guard physically grabbed him and threw him in the car to leave.   I will never understand why Johnny associates himself with this man.  He is rude, he swears at fans, he rips up photos if you ask Johnny to sign, he is simply unpleasant in every way.

But hey, Cal Ripken Jr was nice.  He came right over to sign and perfectly signed my baseball on the sweetspot.  Thank you Cal for being a class act.

Russell Crowe Autograph

Spelling bee time.  How do you spell Russell?
Can you use it in a sentence?
Russell Crowe was a bad mofo in the movie Gladiator where he played Maximus Decimus Meridus.

Follow Russell Crowe's hand and the sharpie to see the correct spelling:

The East Premiere: Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, & More

I graphed the premiere for The East last week in Hollywood and did well.  Two of the three stars came over and signed.  Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgard both were really nice and basically signed for everyone there.  Brit Marling on the other hand did not.  This is nothing new.  I've now seen Brit three times in the last two years and I have never seen her pick up a sharpie.

BONUS: I got word the day before that Bryce Dallas Howard was coming and I needed her to complete my The Help 11x14.  She was pregnant during the time The Help came out so she wasn't signing then.  Finishing this photo I've had for over a year made me happy.

Jason Reitman also showed up and I had him sign my Young Adult 11x14.  I think I printed it for Charlize Theron (who didn't sign).  I've brought the photo out for Patton Oswalt twice (he didn't sign either time).   So now that it has Jason on it, I consider it done, and I will not be lugging it out with me ever again.

Alexander Skarsgard finished the carpet and came right over, and he had a lot of lady fans to appease. Probably 70% of the barricade were girls there specifically to meet Alex.  He was really nice and signed as much as he could and took pictures with some fans too.

Ellen Page was quicker about her signing, but still started at one end of the barricade and worked her way to the other end.  I held out two and she signed them both for me.  Then I moved to the very end of the barricade held out another two and she did those too.

And that's about it for this premiere.

Bling Ring Premiere

I hate going early to premieres.  But at This is the End it was almost impossible to get Emma Watson unless you were in the front row.  So I got to the bling ring hours early to make sure I got a front row spot.  Well . . .  that was a poor choice.   When Emma came she went to a different area where people who had just gotten there were standing, signed maybe 10 or 12 autographs, and then walked away.  I got nothing.  I didn't even get within 20 feet of her.

But I did get a couple other people.  I had a Bling Ring cast 11x14 along and got some people on it.  The first was Claire Julien.  She came right over and signed for the crowd.

Next was Georgia Rock.  She was also nice and came over and signed for everyone.

Paris Hilton showed up and I had photos.  I got three out of the four 11x14s I had signed.

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani came but did not sign.

I didn't expect her to sign, but was pleasantly surprised when Sofia Coppola came over.  I got her on an individual and my cast shot.

Israel Broussard signed at multiple points of the night I didn't get him the first time but got him when he was done with press.

Same story with Katie Chang.  I got her later after the movie.

Roman Coppola came over and was signing so I added him to my cast 11x14.
Here's my finished cast piece with six names of it total:

And then the best autograph of the night.  Francis Ford Coppola came over and signed.  He just signed one each so I got an individual done.

So no Emma, but it happens . . . I still had a good night.
